Marion Presents: Author Talks at Whitsunday Regional Libraries – Queensland - Airlie Beach, Bowen & Proserpine Libraries

Although I was there to share my two books, Caught Between Two Worlds and Wired not Weird, what I love most about these events is the conversation that develops with the audience. I don’t simply want to talk at people. I love listening to their stories, answering their questions and creating a space where people feel comfortable enough to share experiences they may not normally speak about.
Many people are experiencing spiritual awakening and greater awareness for the first time, and I love being able to offer reassurance, practical guidance and the understanding that they are not alone. At each of these talks, people arrived as strangers and, by the end, there was a real feeling of connection and community.
There were wonderful conversations afterwards, questions, book sales and personally signed copies of both books. These three library talks remain very special memories for me.

I was so excited when July 2025 arrived as I had been invited to give Author Talks at 3 libraries in the beautiful Whitsunday Islands region of Queensland, Australia.
I towed my 22 foot caravan from Victor Harbor, South Australia in September ’23 and arrived in Airlie Beach (after first sailing Pt Stephens again!) in October ’23. I was very blessed to meet the Watson family who let me live on their beautiful property in Airlie Beach for 2 years so that I could write my 2nd book. How blessed I was. This was the poster outside of the Proserpine Library for 4 weeks leading up to the Talk.
Sitting day after day after day in the beautiful timber themed Proserpine Library was a godsend to write my book. A godsend because it is just not normal for me to live outside in 100%++++ humidity and heat. The Library was a welcome relief from the oppressive tropical heat for many, many, months. It was only fitting that I should have a Meet the Author Talk there. Huge Thanks to Alicia and the Team at Prossie Library.
And…..if I wasn’t in the library writing or out on the beautiful Coral Sea sailing/racing, I was here in the free Proserpine Public Swimming Pool swimming a couple of kms a day….that was until I broke my leg during a race! Nonethelss it was the most gorgeous pool I’ve ever swum in and right next to the caravan park where I first arrived and stayed before moving to the Watsons.
IT’S ARRIVED! IT’S HERE! Was all my friend could hear me yelling when I got out of my car at her place! Writing and publishing a book is a bit like having a baby = just an idea at first, then it starts to develop, day by day, week by week, month by month and before I knew it, I was the proud parent of my second book!
If you haven’t been to Bowen you are in for a treat. Bowen and it’s Library must be one of the most relaxed places in Australia. This was the sign outside of the Bowen Library for the 4 weeks leading up to the talk.
I lay the books out on the table and that’s when I start to get excited. People come and pick them up, read the back and start sharing their own stories. I always encourage anyone who buys one of my books, to highlight things that mean something to them for their own A-ha moment, dog ear the pages so that they can find the message again. I see my books as tools for your Spiritual Toolbox. Enjoy!
